Although the New York Rangers are in an extended lull in their season, mostly due to COVID, but also because of the holiday, they are still doing some business. The big news is that they signed goalie Dylan Garand to his Entry Level Contract on the day he began his play at the World Junior Championships.

Dylan Garand was a fourth round selection in 2020 (#103 overall) and he is making his second appearance at the WJC. He was the third string goalie last year, but this year he is expected to be contending for the top job.
Garand has the best record of any goalie in the WHL for the Kamloops Blazers with a 15-4 record in 19 games with a 1.85 goals against average and a sparkling .932 save percentage. He is not a big goalie at 6’1″, 181 pounds, but the Blueshirts have to be impressed with his progress.
He makes his WJC debut Thursday in goal for Canada against Russia in a pre-tournament game. The game starts at 7pm EST and will be televised on the NHL Network.

Tinordi back
Jarred Tinordi has completed his conditioning stint with the Wolf Pack and will be available for the Rangers when they resume play on Monday (knock on wood).
UPDATE: #NYR have recalled Jarred Tinordi from his conditioning assignment with @WolfPackAHL.

Tinordi played in five games in Hartford, notching one assist and posting a plus/minus rating +1. He has played in five games for the Rangers, has not scored and is -5 on the season.
Before anyone goes crazy, Zac Jones could not be called up as there is a roster freeze over the Christmas holiday and Tinordi was in Hartford on a 2-week conditioning assignment.
