My 3 Rangers stars

Igor Shesterkin

was spectacular at times and kept it a close game in the first period.  It was just another brilliant performance by the best goalie in hockey.

  • Mika Zibanejad was a force throughout the game and scored the all important first goal and set up Kreider for his one-timer goal.  This could easily have been a five point game for Zibanejad and he also was outstanding on the penalty kill. He also won 17 of 26 faceoffs, a 65% winning percentage.
  • Jacob Trouba

was a rock on defense, playing almost 21 minutes with five blocked shots.

He jumped into the offense with his shot setting up Zibanejad to score on the rebound into an open net. He posted four hits and played a physical game.

    The official 3 stars

    1. Mika Zibanejad
    2. Igor Shesterkin

    What’s next

It’s the last long road trip of the season for the Rangers as they go on a four game trip startin on Sunday in Winnipeg. The game is scheduled to start at 7pm Eastern time. The Rangers play every other day with stops in Minnesota, St. Louis and Dallas. These are the last games this season that the Rangers will play outside of the Eastern Time Zone.

After these four games, the Rangers will have only 23 games left with 14 home games and nine road games.  The team does have a three game road trip to Tampa, Carolina and New Jersey in mid-March.
