My 3 Rangers stars

  1. Chris Kreider scored two crucial goals and played a dynamic game, offensively and on the penalty kill.  His season to end all seasons just keeps rolling along and the long anticipated slump looks like it won’t be happening.
  2. Just another day at the office for Igor Shesterkin, making 45 saves and allowing only one goal on the power play.  Of the 18 goals he has allowed in his last 11 games only 13 have been at even strength.  Yes, 13 even strength goals allowed in his last 11 games.
  3. Mika Zibanejad had another fabulous all around game.  It was his pass that sprung Kreider for the Rangers third goal, the goal that put the game out of reach for the Jets.  He also played almost five minutes on the penalty kill, a big reason the team foiled five of six power plays.
  4. An honorable mention goes to Jacob Trouba who had a goal and an assist and played a physical game with two blocked shots, three hits and two takeaways. His pass to set up Barclay Goodrow first goal was something special and his slap shot in the third sealed the win.

The official 3 stars

  1. Chris Kreider
  2. Igor Shesterkin
  3. Jacob Trouba

What’s next

The Rangers leave Canada for the last time and head to Minnesota where they play the Wild on Tuesday night at 8pm EST.  They will be looking to avenge their 3-2 loss on Henrik Lundqvist night. Minnesota is in a dogfight for a playoff spot so this will be a big game for them.

From Minnesota, the Rangers head to St Louis on Thursday before finishing up the road trip Saturday night in Dallas.

All four opponents on this road trip are in the Central Division and are fighting for a playoff spot so each game will be a big test for the Blueshirts.  They passed the first one with flying colors.
