My 3 Rangers stars

  • Igor Shesterkin, who else?  Making the second most saves in NHL history in his first  playoff game will only enhance his reputation as the league’s best goalie. He was simply outstanding.
  • Adam Fox was a workhorse at both ends of the rink.   He was excellent in the defensive zone but where he really stood out was on offense.  He constantly joined the rush and set up innumerable scoring chances.  He and Lindgren were caught flatfooted on the first Pittsburgh goal, the only blemish in a fine game.
  • K’Andre Miller

played 44:28, the most minutes on the team (he was tied with Fox).  While he was guilty of “over pinching” at times, he was excellent on defense and offense.  He stopped Malkin on a break-in by using his body and he jump started many Ranger rushes.

My goodness, he just turned 22 years old.

    The official 3 stars

    1. Evgeni Malkin – Penguins
    2. Igor Shesterkin – Rangers
    3. Bryan Rust – Penguins

    What’s next

The Rangers take on the Penguins on Thursday night in a game that isn’t a “must win” but is close to being in that category.  It was be interesting to see how the Rangers shake off this heartbreaking loss.
