As the NY Rangers enter the NHL free agency period, all eyes will be on what general manager Chris Drury can do to continue bolstering the team. This year’s free agency period begins on Wednesday, July 13th, 2022 at 12:00 PM ET. At that time, teams will be able to officially sign free agents to their rosters.
It will be very interesting to see which players of the Rangers enter free agency, who will ultimately leave, who might be brought back after testing the waters, and of course, what new players the franchise ends up coming to terms with. It’s always a fun time of year and considering that the Rangers are a playoff-contending team, hopefully, that means they can land a solid player or two that can immediately make an impact upon arrival.
Due to how tight the Rangers’ salary cap is at $10,208,531 as per Cap Friendly, it’s hard to imagine them landing a star free agent or breaking the bank for a single player. A smart free agent signing or two at center or forward is pretty much what the Rangers need at this point in time. Once moves start happening, we should all get a good picture of what Drury wants to do as the Rangers prepare for the upcoming season.
When it comes to this NHL free agency live tracker for the Rangers, please be sure to hit refresh as much as you’d like as it will only have updates from verified and legitimate sources. The 31-year-old played 68 games last year (59 with CHI and 8 with CAL) while posting 12 points (3G and 9A). He's a defense/PK guy who may now be the favorite to play 4C, although he'll compete with the likes of Hunt, Rydahl, Brodzinski and Cuylle for the final roster spots. #NYR https://t.co/8GedPUsjLf

The 28-year-old forward had 32 points (18 goals, 14 assists) in 71 regular-season games for the New York Rangers and Florida Panthers last season.https://t.co/QgUhtSOlLA
Drury said he preferred trading Nemeth vs. buying him out because it created more space, even if it cost them draft picks.
— Vince Z. Mercogliano (@vzmercogliano) July 13, 2022
He didn't rule out signing a depth defenseman, but that wouldn't affect the cap projection because signing would be similar $ to Hajek or kids. #NYR
