The King has returned to the garden. Henrik Lundqvist has had a role with the front office specifically created for him this summer that will see him become a representative of the MSG Sports and Entertainment company. It’s always great to see King Hank doing well, but now we will get to see more of him as a member of the MSG group.

Lundqvist’s new role will see him represent his new employers in “business, partnership, and sponsorship endeavors”. He’ll also be working with the Garden of Dreams Foundation, a charity that works with kids in difficult financial or medical situations to ensure their future isn’t harmed, as well as helping kids who have had their families affected by serving in the armed forces.

With the King back, there are questions as to what he’ll be doing for the organization. So, he’s going to serve as one of the intimidators for people trying to negotiate with the companies he now represents. This isn’t to say Henrik is intimidating, but being in the same room as someone like Lundqvist could leave some people starstruck. It also allows Lundqvist a chance to see the business side of the hockey world.

What he’ll be doing exactly beyond that? He’ll be aiding the companies with digital content according to the New York Rangers’ official release. With that said, what this entails exactly I’m far from certain. He’s going to be part of the organization and this may just be Lundqvist trying to get into the organizational side of the hockey world. Not so much management as the corporate aspect.

This doesn’t mean much for the Rangers’ on-ice product, but it is always nice to see a former Ranger, and especially a Rangers legend like Hank doing well in his life away from the ice. This could be a transition into the more difficult-to-navigate aspect of the hockey world for the Swedish retired netminder. I think we’re all hoping for nothing but the best for Lundqvist in his future endeavors.
