Coming off a big win at home over the Arizona Coyotes, the Rangers from the shores of the Atlantic to the shores of the Pacific. It’s the Emerald City tonight as the Rangers will be visiting the newest addition to the NHL, the Seattle Kraken. Another team that looks really good early, this is going to be a difficult task for the Rangers to kickstart their West Coast road trip with two points.
In practice in the Evergreen state, it was all hands on deck for the Blueshirts. Vitali Kravtsov is listed as a game-time decision after overcoming a stomach bug during the back-to-back in Nashville and then back in New York against the Coyotes. He’ll be an option for Gallant and the Rangers tonight. With the Rangers having everyone available, there should be no excuses tonight.
Seattle has started really well this year. With the Kraken off to an 8-5-3 start, they are actually above the 8-6-3 Rangers on points percentage. With a win, the Rangers could jump their opponents in the standings. It doesn’t exactly matter because Seattle is a western team, but it’s still unique I thought. Seattle has struggled at Climate Pledge Arena, however, so this is a game that the Rangers will have an opportunity to win.
Everyone is expecting the Rangers to open the Western voyage. This is probably the most difficult game on the road trip so it makes sense to utilize the reigning Vezina Trophy winner in the game that will be the most difficult to achieve victory. Gallant has suggested that he will go with the same lineup that beat the Arizona Coyotes 4-1 back at Madison Square Garden earlier this week.
