For the New York Rangers, this is a game that the Rangers need to finish. New Jersey has become one of the big teams in the league. Difficulty playing a consistent 60 minutes will see the Blueshirts decimated tonight. There will not be any room for error against a team as deadly as the Devils have become this season. They have everything a true contender needs and New York will be in a difficult position tonight.
Ryan Lindgren will be unavailable for Gerard Gallant and his team tonight due to an upper-body injury. Lingren left the game against the Edmonton Oilers early clutching at his shoulder. Zac Jones slots back into the lineup after a few games on the outside. Lindgren has been an important part of this New York Rangers team since his NHL debut and the Rangers will be looking to get him back healthy.
Vitali Kravtsov remains the extra forward. Despite the coaching staff putting the lines through a blender, it seems as if the Russian is still not in the plans of the Rangers at this moment in time. Whether this is due to a lack of positive training or more of the issues he had during his first stint in North America, is still unclear. However, he is expected to remain in the press box at this point in time.
