Rangers take on the Dallas Stars in another East vs West contest
By Conor Power
Coming off a big win against the Minnesota Wild where the Rangers were able to come back from a multiple-goal deficit, the Rangers will take on the Dallas Stars in an attempt to keep the recent run of wins going. This is a very strong Dallas team that will be present at Madison Square Garden tonight. This will be a difficult game for the Rangers to maneuver as the Dallas roster currently sits atop the Central division.
With Chris Kreider injured and out for tonight’s game, the Rangers will reinstate forward Sammy Blais into the lineup for this one. With the Blueshirts suffering a major loss to their forward core, Alexis Lafreniere is expected to fill the large void left by the Boxford, Massachussettes native on the top line alongside Kaapo Kakko and Mika Zibanejad. Blais is preferred to newly claimed forward Jake Leschyshyn.
Igor Shesterkin will tend to the crease tonight as the reigning Vezina winner continues his recent resurgence. After a relatively pedestrian start to the season for the Russian netminder, the Rangers goalie has gotten back to his best recently. With Shesterkin showing the ability to steal games that made him so respected last year, it is no secret that the Blueshirts will need Igor at his best.
