New York Rangers players are stepping up for a remarkable charity event, the Shoulder Check Showcase, where they’ll join forces with NHL stars to make a difference both on and off the ice.

A group of big-hearted New York Rangers are gearing up for a heartwarming charity hockey game, all in the name of spreading kindness and compassion. The event, known as the Shoulder Check Showcase, is set to take place at the Terry Connors rink in Stamford, Connecticut, on Thursday, August 9th, and it’s all for a fantastic cause.

Shoulder Check is an inspiring initiative from the #HT40 foundation, which aims to motivate young men and women to support one another through small acts of kindness that can leave a lasting impact. It reminds us that a simple hand on a shoulder can make all the difference in someone’s day.

New York Rangers stars will join other NHL stars for a great cause:

The roster for the charity game is star-studded, with several Rangers players headlining the event. Mika Zibanejad, Jacob Trouba, Chris Kreider, Barclay Goodrow, Adam Fox, and Johnathan Quick have already been announced to participate, bringing their hockey prowess to the ice for a great cause.

They will be joined by other NHL players, including Trevor Zegras from the Anaheim Ducks, Kevin Shattenkirk from the Boston Bruins, Brett Pesce from the Carolina Hurricanes, and many more. The list goes on to include Matt Moulson and Sonny Milano from the Washington Capitals, Spencer Knight Florida Panthers,
Peyton Krabs from the Buffalo Sabres, Phil Kemp from the Edmonton Oilers, John Hayden from the Seattle Kraken, Pavel Dorofeye from the Vegas Golden Knights, Mathew Barzal New York Islanders, and beyond.
Even PHF players Taylor Marchin from the Metropolitan Riveters and Emma Vlasic & Hanna Beatie of the Connecticut Whale will be there to showcase their talents.

Adding to the excitement, legendary Martin St. Louis, current bench boss of the Montreal Canadiens, will be coaching the showcase, guiding and motivating the players to give it their all for the noble cause.

What is Shoulder Check?:

The story behind Shoulder Check is both touching and inspiring. The initiative was born from the tragic loss of a young hockey player named Hayden Thorsen, who wore the number #40 on the ice. Just 16 years old and a goalie for the Junior Rangers in the Mid Fairfield Youth Hockey Association, Hayden passed away in March 2022. His legacy lives on through Shoulder Check, an effort to encourage young people to be there for their peers by actively connecting and reaching out, fostering social connectedness, and ensuring no one feels alone.

So, let’s cheer on these compassionate athletes as they take the ice, using their talents not only for the love of the game but also to promote a culture of support and camaraderie. Together, they will help shine a light on the power of small actions and make the world a better place, one shoulder check at a time.
