As a result of a 4-0 win over the Nashville Predators on Sunday evening at Madison Square Garden, the New York Rangers are now two points out of second wild card.

Here's three key takeaways from the matchup.

1. Matt Rempe's Hit and Fight

In a wild scene at Madison Square Garden, hulking New York Rangers enforcer Matt Rempe crushed Nashville Predators defenseman Nick Blankenburg against the end boards, causing the defender's head to snap back violently. Instantly, fellow Nasvhille defenseman Andreas Englund rushed to his teammates' defense. He dropped the gloves with Rempe and leaving the Rangers' giant with a bloodied face, despite Rempe being the clear winner in the fight.

"Remps is just such a big man. He was forechecking," New York Rangers Head Coach Peter Laviolette said. "When he hits, he's just higher than everybody else. I don't think he hit him, I think he maybe grazed him a little bit. I think it was more of a miss. That's his game, as well. He's got to do it within the rules, but we also need him forechecking."

2. Brett Berard's Rookie Goal Celebration

As a result of Chris Kreider being placed on injured reserve with an upper body injury, the Rangers have recalled winger Brett Berard. Berard was excellent in his first stint with the Rangers, playing in 19 games and scoring 3 goals and 4 assists while playing third line minutes. Berard returned to Hartford in January and almost immediately got injured, which is one of the reasons why he wasn’t recalled sooner. March 2nd was his first game back in a Blueshirt jersey, and Berard took advantage of it. He scored the final goal of the night for New York against Nashville and secured the final score of 4-0.

Jonny Brodzinski talked about his former Hartford teammates Brett Berard and Brennan Othmann postgame.

"It's awesome. Playing with Beebs and Otter, love those guys. It's awesome to see. Especially Beebs, getting sent back down, he was extremely bummed with that. I just told him, 'You're going to get another shot.' Happy to see him put one in the back of the net. You could see, it didn't matter if that game was 8-0 he was still going to celebrate like that. That's just the type of personality he's got and he's fiery, it's awesome."

3. Jonathan Quick Shines

Goaltender Jonathan Quick notches his third shutout of the season in Game No. 800 of his career. He now moves to No. 18 in National Hockey League history for most career shutouts with 63. At No. 17 is former Ranger legend Henrik Lundqvist. Quick only needs to record one more shutout to tie the Hall of Famer with 64 shutouts. The Rangers' other star goaltender Igor Shesterkin was seen from the bench looking on with pride and a smile on his face.

Quick slogged 34 saves against the Predators, many of which were quite dynamic.
