After suffering through a disastrous three straight losses, New York Rangers fans got to enjoy witnessing a win at Madison Square Garden.

Let's breakdown exactly how the Rangers got their latest win with three key takeaways from the matchup.

1. Brennan Othmann's First NHL Point

The Blueshirts first goal of the night was scored around the 9:00 minute mark of the first frame. Defenseman Adam Fox earned the goal with teammate Braden Schenider earning the assist. While there was originally some confusion — following the conclusion of the matchup, Toronto actually awarded the secondary assist to Brennan Othmann. This gave No. 78 his first NHL point with the Rangers.

"I think [getting my first point] just takes a weight off my shoulders a little bit," Othmann said. "Not that I needed it at the time. It just kind of feels good, knowing that you can contribute at this level a little bit. Especially in a game like that, every game from here on is a playoff game."

2. Honoring Sam Rosen

Saturday, March 22nd marked the New York Rangers' "Salute to Sam" due to the legendary play-by-play announcer's upcoming retirement. The contest with the Canucks featured a special pregame ceremony and in-arena programming as they honored  the voice that will forever be remembered in Rangers history. All fans attending received a limited-edition commemorative ticket.

"Just an amazing career you’ve had calling the game," New York Rangers Head Coach Peter Laviolette said to Rosen. "The voice of the Rangers, you've done an unbelievable job."

"Thank you for being my inspiration all these years.""

Jonny Brodzinski — at 31-years-old — scored two points for the Blueshirts on Saturday with two goals. This brings his 2024-25 season point total so far to 16, featuring nine goals and seven assists.

"Here's Jonny" references were plentiful across Rangers' social media.
