The New York Rangers were able to take care of business on the road in an Original Six matchup against the Detroit Red Wings. Before we get into the takeaways, as a little sidebar, the Red Wings' centennial uniforms are absolutely incredible this season.
As the Rangers won 4-1, they now hold a record of 7-6-2 for 16 points. They sit just two points out of the third spot in the Metropolitan Division, currently being held by Carolina at 18 points.
Let's break this game down and discuss what should be taken away from it.
Rangers are road warriors
Now at 7-1-1 on the road this season, it is time to call a spade, a spade. The Rangers are road warriors, and that will likely be their label for the rest of the season. Something about those white uniforms, or just the brotherhood coming together on the road, is making this team Stanley Cup contenders in every other building but Madison Square Garden.
The Rangers still need to figure things out at home, but that should be figured out shortly. Overall, this team is playing better hockey as of late.
Cuylle gets back on track
Will Cuylle, who was riding a four-game point streak prior to the Rangers shutout loss to Carolina, got back on track with the night's opening goal on the power play. Now with three goals and four assists on the year, No. 50 is starting to catch some flames heading into the meat of the year.
The Rangers and their unwavering fans had high expectations for Cuylle this season, and he has not lived up to them. But, as he gets back on the board again, those expectations are starting to look a bit more reachable.
Panarin's new cut sparks life
Artemi Panarin shaved off the locks for his often-used bald look. Needing some kind of spark to his game, he even acknowledged that his game needed to improve, citing that a new haircut could solve it.

He backed it up with a three-point night, lighting the lamp in the third frame and adding two assists prior to that. Panarin has been in the limelight as trade rumors continue to swirl amid his impending contract expiration. The only way the Rangers can benefit from him right now, is to let this new look spark some more great hockey.
