Alexis Lafrenière
This is another player who wouldn't be near the top of my list to move, but it wouldn't be shocking if the team attempted to take a big swing by moving their recently extended 2020 No. 1 overall pick winger in a blockbuster that also netted them a 2025 first rounder. This is the first year in which Lafrenière will make $7.45 million against the salary cap, a number that is going to age very well as the cap rises over the next several seasons.
The Rangers are a team that has shown interest in Jason Robertson, they are expected to also keep an eye on what happens with Jack Eichel and Connor McDavid. That suggests the team will look to free up space in the future, and Lafrenière's contract could be something Drury sees as an opportunity to offload. There are several teams with early picks in this draft that could use a forward like him, and also have things the Rangers might want as part of a larger trade.
Braden Schneider
Schneider is a 23-year-old defenseman who was picked by the Rangers 19th overall at the 2020 NHL Draft. He's a name the Vancouver Canucks wanted as part of the Miller trade, and at 6'4" and 213 pounds has the size that most teams covet. This season he finished with a career high 21 points in 80 games and skated 17:52 a night.
Reading this you might say to yourself... why would the team trade him? Consider that the Rangers have an all-NHL defender in Adam Fox on the top pair. They also traded for, and almost immediately, signed Will Borgen to a long-term extension. It is possible that if the Rangers had bigger plans for Schneider they wouldn't have given Borgen the contract they did, so maybe there's a chance they dangle him ahead of the upcoming draft.
