Well, the New York Rangers got a two-goal win on Tuesday night. It also so happened to be the first time this season they won a game in which they previously trailed by two goals. Although it was meaningless, as the Rangers are eliminated from the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, a win is a win. The Blueshirts were able to hand the Florida Panthers a two-goal loss (5-3) en route to the Panthers heading to the playoffs themselves.
Let's breakdown exactly how the Rangers got their latest win with four key takeaways from the matchup.
1. Matthew Robertson Debut
Six years after the Rangers selected Matthew Robertson in the second round of the 2019 draft, the defenseman made his NHL debut Monday. He was paired with Adam Fox, was in the starting lineup, and nearly scored 15 seconds into the game off a slick J.T. Miller set up.

In his first league start, Robertson logged 15:24 TOI at even strength and had two shots on goal. The Edmonton, Alberta, Canada native was recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack on April 13th.
"I'm not going to lie, I was a little nervous," Robertson said postgame. "But the guys were super welcoming [and] very positive ... I got my rookie lap in and it was a great experience. [It's] something I'll remember for the rest of my life. Just stepping on the ice and we're the jersey, there's a lot of emotions."
2. Vincent Trocheck's No. 800
In his 800th career NHL game, 31-year-old center Vincent Trocheck scores his career-high fifth shorthanded goal, and second in his last four games. The Rangers’ 17 shorthanded goals are now the second-most in franchise history.

Across his 800 games in the National Hockey League, Trocheck has become known for his all-around play, including his ability to play both special teams (power play and penalty kill) and his strong leadership within the team.
3. J.T. Miller's Multi-Point Games
Against the Florida Panthers, former member of the Vancouver Canucks J.T. Miller recorded his 12th multi-point game since February 1st — his first game in his return to the New York Rangers' roster — which places him in a tie for the most in the NHL.
He scored with just over 2:25 remaining in the second frame with a feed from Mika Zibanejad to tie the game up at 3-3, before the Blueshirts went on to score two more in the third period.
4. Franchise Record
The Rangers established a franchise record when they won their 20th road game, making it four straight seasons with 20 or more road victories. They won 25 times away from Madison Square Garden in 2021-22 and last season, and 24 in 2022-23.
