The Rangers' core has already experienced a major shakeup

Over the past few seasons, the Rangers have been criticized for their toughness and lack of accountability, and Drury made one of the biggest moves of the season to change that. New York brought in J.T. Miller in February, and from the second he arrived for his second stint with the Rangers, he became a major part of the core.

Miller had 35 points (13 G, 22 A) in 32 games with the Rangers, providing a full 200-foot spark for a team that really needed a change. The 32-year-old is still one of the premium centers in the league, and having him for a full season will give New York an immediate jump.

Moreover, Miller - along with Vincent Trocheck, Adam Fox and Chris Kreider - have an established relationship with new coach Sullivan, who was behind the bench for the United States in the 2025 Four Nations Faceoff. Miller is expected to be a part of New York's leadership core for years to come.

Come 2025 Opening Night, expect Miller to have a letter, whether a "C" or "A" on his jersey.
