Is It Time for the New York Rangers to Move On From General Manager Chris Drury?

Good

I stated earlier that Drury has only two Eastern Conference Finals appearances for his efforts so far, but that's disingenuous. He's not been here long, and four playoff rounds wins aren't nothing; they're more than at least 28 other teams did that year. Deep playoff runs are demanding, and to make it more than halfway to the Stanley Cup is impressive, given how much it takes just to get there.

He's also won the President's Trophy with the franchise, setting a new organizational best record for points in a season and everything that comes with that. While the argument "the past isn't a reflection of the present" is valid in the NHL, he did this with last year's roster. There was no mass exodus of talent; it's just an issue in the room with either motivation or a drop in performance from the aging core.

Drury often finds value in free agency. Jimmy Vesey, Sam Carrick, and Vincent Trocheck have all been good additions by Drury and have significantly impacted the first team this year. None of them are overpaid, and only Trocheck has an argument about being signed too long. There are some instances of tidy work from the Rangers General Manager. But does this outweigh everything else?
