The New York Rangers hosted the St. Louis Blues for the first time this season, and it was a battle of streaks. The Blues were enjoying a nice two-game winning streak, and the Blueshirts had not been able to gain a victory in four straight games.
In this one, the Blueshirts were able to snap their losing streak and get back in the win column by a score of 3-1. There are a couple of winners from this game, as the Rangers played a very good 60 minutes of hockey against the Blues.
Let’s go over them.
Adam Fox
In the lead up, Adam Fox was labeled as an X-Factor in this game and he got the party started with his second goal on the season. This was given considering his prior success against the Blues.
He also added an assist for a two-point night, giving him a total of 19 points on the year. No. 23 is still in that Norris Trophy conversation, and with a long season to go, is also on pace to have a career year.
Eeli Tolvanen
Jumping back into the scoring column was Eeli Tolvanen on that new-look third line with Will Cuylle at center. Tolvanen scored his fourth goal of the 2026-27 season as an empty-netter.
Earlier in the period, as Oliver Bjorkstrand nailed his sixth goal of the year, No. 17 was added as an assist. It has been an up-and-down year for Tolvanen, but this performance could be the start of the upswing.
J.T. Miller
The final member of the multi-point club for this win over the Blues was J.T. Miller. Going against a very good centerman on the other side, Mason McTavish, the captain of the Rangers, got the last laugh with a two-assist showing.
Miller notched his 12th point of the season in 16 games, but is on a slower pace of 63 points this season. This was a great showing, but he has to continue to pick it up if he can still show that he is the heavy price tag that the Rangers paid for.
Dylan Garand
Dylan Garand was the key X-factor in this game going in, and he showed up. Stopping 32 of 33 shots and, most importantly, getting this team out of this four-game rut is exactly why he is a winner.
Garand had to dig deep against a solid Blues offense, but was able to nearly achieve his second shutout of the season. He still has very little backup behind him, and he will have to continue to weather the storm.
