Budding fan favorite Matt Rempe certainly garners quite the bit of attention across the National Hockey League.

Whether he's loved or hated, Rempe causes fans to take notice of him as a result of his massive size — 6'9", 255 pounds — and his physical nature on the ice. While some NHL fans see "Remps" as a guy whose only in the league due to his size, these people are wrong. Across 39 games played and missing quite a few due to a harsh eight game suspension, Rempe has still managed to taly six points across two goals and four assists.

His latest point was garnered against fellow city foe the New York Islanders on Thursday night.

With just over 12 minutes remaining in the third period at UBS Arena — the Alberta, Canada native neared the boards to get the puck and in an impressive spin move centered the puck to rookie Brett Berard who sailed it past No. 50 Marcus Hogberg.

The beautiful pass from Rempe and resulting goal made the scoreboard read 6-1 near the midpoint of the final frame. Chants of "Rempe" could be heard in Elmont, and his assist was not the only aspect of his play that was noteworthy the night of April 10th.

The 22-year-old's physicality shined Thursday night; he was both unyielding and unable to be moved in any Islanders' attempt to push him out of the way, as seen by Tony DeAngelo's failed attempt.

A 22-year-old family-oriented player with two sisters (Alley and Steph) who formerly played hockey in the Ivy League Conference, Rempe was was drafted by the Rangers in 2020 (sixth round, pick No. 165). Prior to Thursday evening, Rempe has scored two goals this season and three assists. He has also lived with netminder Jonathan Quick and his family, in addition to training with veteran Chris Kreider on the offseason.

Fans have particularly noted his rapid growth in skill as of late. And it's assists like these that prove Rempe's growth isn't all talk, it is a fact.
