Against fellow city foe the New York Islanders, the New York Rangers posted their most dominant win since Oct. 22.
The matinee matchup was a part of the Rangers' return to Madison Square Garden that began on Nov. 1 with a 2-1 home win over the Senators. However, against the Islanders the Blueshirts won by three goals in a 5-2 win.
The Nov. 3 contest saw alternate captain Artemi Panarin lead the way in goals with two. He needs just one more goal to join the 800-point club. When he likely reaches the milestone in the next few games, he will become one of the top-10 fastest undrafted players to do so.
He now has points in 10 of New York’s 11 games and leads the Rangers with 18 points.
Also noteworthy was Mika Zibanejad, who actually had a lot to prove going into today's game at MSG. Despite a slow season start, the Sweden native logged three shots on goals and three assists for a total of three points on the day.
31-year-old Vincent Troucheck tallied the Rangers' second goal of the contest in the second period.
The goal was extra special to Trocheck — who has been playing in the NHL since being drafted since 2011 — as it was his 200th goal of his career.
As expected, goaltender Igor Shesterkin played the full time on the line. He logged 35 saves against 37 shots against with an impressive save percentage of .946.
Panarin, Zibanejad and Shesterkin earned Stars of the Game accordingly.
Chris Kreider scored his seventh goal of the 2024-25 campaign just 3:44 into the first period for the shorthanded score.
This first-period goal was the 311th of Kreider's career, third-most in Rangers history behind Rod Gilbert (406) and Jean Ratelle (336).
Center Adam Edstrom scored the second to last goal of the night. It was actually his first of the season, being scored at the 5:18 mark of the third period.
Records wise, the Rangers improved to 4-1-1 at home and are now 4-1-0 on the road.
