Gabe Perreault's development has added to his success with the New York Rangers.

Gabe Perreault was a big part of the U.S National Team Development team and Boston College hockey. This experience will prove helpful when he returns to the NHL games this season.

Gabe Perreault had an impressive history leading up to his NHL debut. He participated in the U.S. National Team Development Program, played with the Boston College team, and then on Team USA, where he also excelled. In addition to this extensive experience, he also participated in the New York Rangers Development Camp.

What you need to know about Gabe Perreault

The Perreault family is hockey. They live and breathe it throughout the family. Gabe is the youngest son of Yanic Perreault, who was also an NHL hockey player. Like father, like son, or sons, because his siblings also play hockey. His older brothers are involved with hockey, whether it be coaching or playing. And last, his sister plays for the PWHL. This family breeds hockey players and good ones, too. Gabe’s mom was also involved in Gabe’s hockey coaching. Now that is a hockey family. Gabe played for Boston College, and now he plays for the New York Rangers.

First game with the NY Rangers

On April 2nd, 2025, Perreault made his NHL debut on the ice at Madison Square Garden. He had no goals or assists and ended with -1 for plus/minus. It’s not surprising to see that he didn’t make a significant impact. It is a considerable leap from playing college hockey games to playing in the NHL. He has excellent potential for the team, and once he becomes comfortable playing with the professionals, he will showcase his talent to the team. 

Strengths that Perreault has developed along the way

From 2021 to 2023, Perreault was part of the U.S. National Team Development Program. In the 2021-22 season, he scored18 goals and added 32 assists. During the 2022-23 season, he scored an impressive 53 goals and recorded 79 assists. This season made history as the most points scored in a single season by the USNTDP. He also made his mark as the fourth-leading scorer in USNTDP history, ranking first in total points and assists. All of this is just foreshadowing that Perreault is about to make history with the NHL. 

Boston College

When he played for Boston College, he also performed well. In the 2023-24 first year, he had 19 goals and 32 assists. For his sophomore year, he scored 16 goals and recorded 32 assists.

2023 IIHF U18 World Championship

Perreault represented Team USA with 5 goals and 13 assists over 7 games when Team USA took home the gold.

2024 & 2025 IIHF World Junior Championships

In 2024, Perreault contributed 3 goals and 7 assists, and a gold medal for the team.

In 2025, he was once named player of the game, scored 3 goals and 7 assists, and made the media all-star team.

NY Rangers development camp

He participated in the development camp where they worked on on and off-ice activities, such as drills, line-testing, and scrimmages. He also worked on strength and conditioning and was assessed to determine what he needs to work on.

Perreault’s development has been impressive, highlighted by his records with the U.S. National Team Development Program, his elite performance at Boston College, and his spectacular performance with Team USA. Along with his own professional training and development camps, Perreault should be prepared this season to up his game playing in the NHL, and be a valuable contributor for the Rangers.
