Players to watch
Brennan Othmann
Somehow, Othmann returned. The Rangers recalled their 2019 first round draft pick after sending him down to the Hartford Wolf Pack at the start of the season. He's in the lineup over Matt Rempe who did not make the road trip to Western Canada, which is a bummer for the Calgary native. This very much feels like Othmann's final chance... for real this time. There's uncertainty surrounding his future given a supposed trade request, but for now he's back with the team. Mike Sullivan thinks Othmann can help the Rangers win hockey games, and it will be interesting to see how aggressive and involved he gets to start this game.
Adam Fox
Fox was drafted by the Calgary Flames, and the home crowd certainly loves to shower the Blueshirt blueliner with boos whenever he touched the puck. He's been one of the team's top players to start the season and has three goals and four assists for seven points in nine games. Fox has had a strong start analytically as well, and has put together a slash line featuring a 61.16 GF%, a 55.39 CF%, and a 55.26 xGF% per Evolving-Hockey.
Will Borgen
Borgen has had a solid start to the season for the Rangers, and has been an effective defenseman looking worthy of the extension he received. He's skated just under 143 minutes at 5v5, and in that time has a 57.74 GF%, a 49.13 CF%, and a 61.51 xGF%. It would be great if he were able to chip in a bit more offensively, but for now he can get by on his defensive contributions on the back end.
