Players to watch

J.T. Miller

Miller has just two goals and assists through eight games for the Blueshirts. He's tallied 20 shots on goal, and is skating 20:43 per night. The Blueshirts' captain expects more from himself, and tonight offers a great opportunity to get his game on track. Miller was previously with the Vancouver Canucks, and that gave him additional opportunities to play the Sharks. In 26 career games vs. San Jose, Miller has a line of 9-23-32, and that is the second most points he's recorded against a single organization.

Will Cuylle

Cuylle is having a tough start to the season, and in eight games he's scored just one goal on 18 shots. He's getting opportunities while skating 17:29 per night, but the offense isn't coming along. Per Evolving-Hockey, Cuylle has a 56.59 xGF% and a 53.24 CF%, and assuming he sticks with the process put in place by Mike Sullivan, he should be rewarded soon. He won over the fans last year and was awarded the Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award, and they'd like to see that player make an impact sooner rather than later.

Conor Sheary

Sheary earned an NHL contract by performing well in the preseason, and he was one of the Rangers most noticeable players. An early injury to Vincent Trocheck created an opening in the top six, and he's yet to see the results in his NHL dot com numbers. In eight games he's got just a 35.22 GF%, but he's also posted a 52.88 CF%, and a 55.88 xGF%. Sheary is a veteran player who knows what it takes to be successful, and he needs to start producing if he's going to remain in the top six.
