Jonathan Quick will play a more prominent role for the New York Rangers in the coming days and weeks. Yesterday, we learned that Igor Shesterkin will spend some time on the shelf with an upper-body injury and be placed on the injured reserve. With this news, Louis Domingue was recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack, and the Rangers will be looking for Quick to try and steady the sinking ship that Igor has been trying to bail out in vain.

However, this isn't just a chance for Quick to try and help his boyhood hockey club rebound; it is a chance for Quick to put himself on display. The New York Rangers will sell at the trade deadline, and the Blueshirts know this. Quick will get a chance to show the world he still has what it takes to play at the NHL level and get an opportunity to move away to compete for his fourth Stanley Cup ring.

Teams are never content with their goaltending options at this time of the year. Quick can get in the shop window and find a new home if he plays well because players like Jonathan Quick want to win. He dominated the league as a Los Angeles King, capturing the cup twice. He did it again as a member of the Vegas Golden Knights. A fourth ring accompanying his Conn Smythe would strengthen his Hall of Fame bid.

Speculation like this is subject to the wishes of the Milford, Connecticut native, but Quick has never been shy to voice his displeasure when his team does not win. If the Rangers can move him on, get an asset that might help them in the future, and find a situation where Quick can give himself the chance to ride off into the sunset as a four-time Stanley Cup Champion in the twilight of his career, it's a great deal for all involved.
