A road trip seemed to be just what the Rangers needed, as they picked up three consecutive wins against the Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers, and Seattle Kraken. The vibes were much higher than they'e been for the Rangers and the fanbase. So maybe this could carry over into Tuesday where they returned home to take on the Carolina Hurricanes. Maybe this would be the perfect time for the Rangers to pick up their first win at home.

That didn't happen. Despite a strong start to the game, the Rangers lost 3-0 to the Hurricanes. All the good vibes from the West Coast trip have completely disappeared.

After the game, Rangers captain J.T. Miller talked about the team's continued struggles at home, as the team is 0-5-1 at Madison Square Garden this season. Miller said, "it's not really cute anymore." Miller also took blame for his play contributing to the team underperforming at home.

"I need to be better. I need to lead better for these guys. It's just not acceptable at home to not get the job done at the end of the day, whether you play well or not.," said Miller.

J.T. Miller says Rangers' struggles at home 'not really cute anymore'

Rangers fans know how poorly things have gone at home. In six home games for the Rangers, they have only scored six goals. That's right, one goal per game at Madison Square Garden so far this season. The really damning thing is that five of those goals arrived in one game, their 6-5 overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks. The only other home game the Rangers scored in was a 3-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild. Their four other home games, the Rangers couldn't score a single goal.

The Rangers started their game against the Hurricanes strongly, as they put pressure on the defense and goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov. The Rangers had 15 shots on goal in the first period alone. The second period was a bit better, even though they took just nine shots on goal as opposed to Carolina's 13. Then, the Rangers completely no showed offensively, recording just one shot on goal.

In the game, Miller had five shots on goal, the most of any Rangers player, but could not put the puck in the net. Miller was brought back by the Rangers to not only lead the team but also because of his career resurgence with the Canucks in previous, recent seasons. So far, Miller has three goals and five assists in 14 games.

Rangers fans are wondering when they can expect to see the team win at home this season. Not only that, but also whether or not they can hear the goal horn and song multiple times a game. So far, that's only occurred in two games.

Maybe the Rangers' first home win arrives this Saturday when they take on the Islanders.
