On April 9th, the New York Rangers will see the clocks turn back as they face the Philadelphia Flyers in a rivalry that has been hard-fought since the Flyers came into the league in 1967. However, Rangers fans will be getting another blast from the past with the news that this game on TNT is set to be called by Sam Rosen and John Davidson. The two old broadcast partners will return to TNT to call another Blueshirts game.
If the Rangers miss the playoffs, this month will be the final one of Sam Rosen's illustrious career as the voice of the New York Rangers. For 40 years, Sam Rosen has been the leading voice of Rangers hockey, but that will end. His retirement tour has taken him and his partner, Joe Micholetti, around the league to receive gifts from friends and fans to celebrate his iconic voice and his remarkable career.
Here's a fun programming note: It sounds like longtime broadcast partners Sam Rosen and John Davidson will reunite to call the April 9 game between #NYR-#LetsGoFlyers on TNT 👀

That will be nostalgic for many Rangers fans, I'm sure.
This will be a wonderful memory for Rosen and the fans who have listened since Davidson and Sam called the iconic Stanley Cup-winning game in 1994. A final day together in the broadcast booth as Davidson will leave his Columbus Blue Jackets organization, where he is an advisor and alternate governor, to join his good friend to call a game for the New York Rangers again. It's an extraordinary act of friendship from all involved and a wonderful experience for everyone.
Of the three broadcaster partners Rosen has had, we know Joe Micholetti and John Davidson will have a final day with the voice of Rangers hockey. Still, Phil Esposito, who was present when the New York Rangers had a salute to Sam Rosen night against the Vancouver Canucks, has a job with the Lightning and will not get that chance, it seems. It's incredibly sad, but that's life. Having the final three games of Rosen's career with the three different partners he has had beside him would have been the best send-off he could have gotten.
