The New York Rangers have signed goaltender Jonathan Quick to a one-year contract extension with an average annual value of $1.5 million.
Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury made the announcement Wednesday morning. Earlier this year, Quick made history and become the first U.S.-born goaltender to earn 400 wins and the 15th goaltender in NHL history to do so. The Connecticut native also become the 17th goaltender in NHL history to appear in 800 career games, and the second U.S.-born goalie to do so.

In 48 games with New York, across two seasons, Quick has accumulated a 27-12-4 record, .904 save percentage, 2.83 goals-against average and five shutouts. Among NHL goaltenders who have played in 50 or fewer games since the beginning of the 2023-24 season, Quick ranks tied for first with 27 wins.
Also noteworthy — In NHL history, he ranks 14th in wins, 18thin shutouts and among goaltenders to play in 750 or more games, sixth in save percentage and fourth in GAA.
Quick is a three-time Stanley Cup champion — 2012 and 2015 with Los Angeles and 2023 with Las Vegas — in addition to being a two-time Vezina Trophy finalist. Quick, 39-years-old, has posted a 9-6-2 record in 21 appearances for the Blueshirts this season, along with three shutouts.
The Vezina Trophy is awarded annually to the National Hockey League (NHL) goaltender who is "adjudged to be the best at this position." Quick was a finalist for his play in the 2011-12 and 2015-16 seasons.
Fellow Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin won the award in 2022. In December the Rangers reached a long-awaited agreement on an eight-year, $92 million contract extension. While Shesterkin is the starter, Quick is next in line with the Hartford Wolf Pack's (AHL affiliate) goaltender Dylan Garand also seeing recent development.
