Players to watch
Mika Zibanejad
Zibanejad has had a lot of success against the Philadelphia Flyers throughout his NHL career to date, especially with the New York Rangers. Since joining the Broadway Blueshirts, Zibanejad has faced off against the Flyers 35 times. In that span he's scored 17 goals and added 23 assists for 40 points, and that includes three multi-goal games. Zibanejad's crowning achievement came in 2021, as he went off for three goals and three assists twice against the Flyers on March 17th and March 21st. This season has been a productive one for the Rangers' alternate captain, and look for him to produce in a matinee matchup.
Igor Shesterkin
The Blueshirts' netminder is coming off a bounce back win vs. the St. Louis Blues, and he's in line for another favorable matchup. Shesterkin has appeared in 14 games against Philadelphia and has a record of 9-4-1 with a .937 save percentage and a 2.13 goals against average. The Rangers' netminder has made 30 or more saves in 10 of the 14 he's started against Philadelphia, and it includes wins in which he finished with 36, 37, 39, and 41 saves.
Trevor Zegras
Zegras gets a shout-out here as a member of the opposition because he's a local kid. The Flyers' pivot was born in Bedford, a town in Westchester County 45 miles away from The Garden. Zegras has had a sensational start to his first season in Philadelphia, and has a line of 14-20-34 in 33 games after he went 12-20-32 in 57 games last season with the Anaheim Ducks. He's a top offensive threat for the Flyers, and someone the Rangers will have to keep under control.
