Michael Misa would be an incredible addition to the New York Rangers prospect pool

The Rangers prospect pool could be considered quite thin up front after Perreault. Michael Misa would be an incredible addition, if the Blueshirts are lucky.

The NHL entry draft is still months away, and the New York Rangers are in a weird position where they hold Schrodinger's first-round pick. As the pick they traded to the Vancouver Canucks for J.T. Miller was top 10 protected, they don't have it at the moment. However, a bad week for the Rangers may drop them into the top 10 overall picks, returning it to Chris Drury and company this summer. It's a unique state for the draft pick.

So when we look at young players the Rangers would adore to have, such as Michael Misa, we've got to do it with this in mind. Misa is a difficult talent to place in the upcoming draft, with experts having him go anywhere from first overall to fifth overall. The Saginaw Spirit captain looks like one of the elite talents in the draft, but his place isn't specific due to the other players in this class.

At 6'1, 185 lbs, Misa still has much growing to do before he is up to NHL size. He's got to fill out that frame, which happens sometime after getting drafted for many players. However, the Oakville, Ontario native is enjoying quite the year with the Spirit in the Ontario Hockey League this season. In 65 games, Misa has 62 goals and 72 assists for 134 points. That's unreal for a kid in his draft year.

Misa might need a little time to develop coming out of the draft, and he might not be ready for the big leagues right away, but this is a kid with extreme talent. It's unlikely the Rangers will win the lottery and move up to pick him if they miss the playoffs, but there is a nice feeling about picturing a talent like this in a New York Rangers jersey.
