The makeup of the New York Rangers is expected to change in the upcoming weeks, but the team still has games to play which include a matinee in Philadelphia against the Flyers. The Blueshirts are a team in turmoil, and they will hope to avoid getting bullied on Broad Street at a time in which they have been embarassed in two of their last three contests. Mika Zibanejad historically has risen to the occasion, and he's currently playing some of the best hockey of his career in recent memory.
Zibanejad is the main player to watch in Saturday's tilt against Flyers
Zibanejad enters this afternoon with 14 points over his last seven games, In those seven games he has scored six times while also adding eight assists. This year he's leading the team with 18 goals, and is second in points with 43.
Zibanejad has loved playing against the Flyers, and his his career to date he has 20 goals, along with 24 assists in 49 games, including one along with an assist during the Rangers' last meeting against Philadelphia on December 20.
Jonathan Quick looking to snap losing streak
Another player of note is Jonathan Quick, someone who is trying to snap an 11-game winless streak (0-9-2). He's been pressed into service with Igor Shesterkin sidelined for an unknown length of time.
Quick turns 40 next week, and has a record of 3-10-2 with a 3.13 goals against average and a .887 save percentage. He's been put in a tough spot, and is doing the best he can. The Rangers remain a team in turmoil, but it would be nice to see if the squad can do enough to get Quick back in the win column given the spot he is in.
