New York Ranger players that are off limits to the trade

The NHL trade deadline is coming up rapidly on March 7th, and these are the players that shouldn’t be traded by the New York Rangers under any circumstances and why.

The trade deadline and the playoffs are coming soon and the New York Rangers need to hold on to certain players because of their skillfulness to the team. The young players are important in building and rebooting the team to get the Rangers on the map for this season or the next season. Draft picks are their best bet to receive during the trade.

With the trade deadline quickly approaching on March 7th,  it is truly a stressful time for the Rangers to figure out the best trades. The team has recently lost Ryan Lindgren and Jimmy Vesey, two of the Rangers' fan favorites.

For Lindgren and Vesey, the Rangers got Juuso Parssinen, Calvin de Haan, and some conditional draft picks. Parssinen has been traded several times this season and has only played two games, but he is a young player. Getting draft picks is a wise decision by the Rangers. Trades are needed to make the Rangers a legacy-winning team again, but some players shouldn’t be part of the trading conversation.

Alexis Lafrenière

Lafrenière, a 23-year-old winger, has 14 goals and 20 assists this season. He was a 1st round draft pick in 2020. Although he hasn’t had as many goals this season as last season, he is a young player with a lot of potential.

Braden Schneider

Schneider is a mighty defenseman. The Rangers must keep him; he was the 2020 1st-round, 19th overall pick. The talent is there, and the stats show. In the future, he will be a guaranteed top-four defenseman. Schneider has five goals each in the last two complete seasons and three goals this season already. His assists have been in the double digits for three years. Schneider’s points overall are at  +19 for plus/minus points.

Will Cuylle

Cuylle has scored an impressive number of goals this season. He has 17 goals this season alone and many more to come as he has become a regular scorer for the Rangers. He has +11 plus/minus points for this season. Overall, he has 30 goals for the Rangers and 24 assists.

If President and General Manager Chris Drury wants a winning team that can go to the playoffs in the future, he will put a protected bubble around these valuable players. They are all young and have time to grow and gain more skills, though they are already giving the Rangers a leg up, so there is not much to prove for them. It’s time for the Rangers to be winners again; these players will help them along that journey. The Rangers should gamble on the future and keep the young, talented players.
