Every fan loves to have a big scorer on their team. There have been some great scorers in the history of the New York Rangers, and there are still some dynamic players on the team today.
Scoring can be defined by just goals or by adding goals and assists, which shows a complete scoring picture. The players below are the all-time leading scorers based on the total of goals and assists.
Before getting into current leaders, let us reminisce on the historic ones. Some of these players even have their jersey hanging from the rafters above Madison Square Garden, one of the highest honors.
Top 5 Rangers all-time by total points
Players | Points | Goals | Assists | Games |
---|---|---|---|---|
Rod Gilbert | 1021 | 406 | 615 | 1065 |
Brian Leetch | 981 | 240 | 741 | 1129 |
Jean Ratelle | 817 | 336 | 481 | 861 |
Andy Bathgate | 729 | 272 | 457 | 719 |
Mark Messier | 691 | 250 | 441 | 698 |
One current player is in the top ten of all time is Mika Zibanejad, holding the 8th slot with 589 points: 250 goals and 339 assists in 649 games. While it is unlikely, it is possible for him to enter the top five this season if he were to have a career year and tally 103 points.
Turning to current leaders in regular-season goals, Chris Kreider, despite no longer being on the team, remains a significant figure among the top Rangers goal scorers.
New York Rangers All-Time Regular Season Goals Leaders
Rod Gilbert: Leads with 406 goals
Jean Ratelle: Second with 336 goals
Chris Kreider: Third with 326 goals
Adam Graves: Fourth with 280 goals
Andy Bathgate: Fifth with 272 goals
Just like with points, Zibanejad is just on the outside looking in with 250 goals, and he could reasonably move as high as fourth place this season if he tallies 31 goals.
Looking at leaders for goals during playoff games. Again, Kreider remains a name worth saying twice.
Rangers All-Time Playoff Goals Leaders
Chris Kreider: leads with 48 goals
Brian Leetch: holds second place with 34 goals
Mark Messier: ranks third with 29 goals
Adam Graves: ranks fourth with 28 goals
Ron Duguay: ranks fifth with 28 goals
Among active Rangers, Zibanejad sits in 15th place with 17 playoff goals, and it would take an exceptional playoff run for him to enter the top five this season.
What’s in store for the upcoming 2025-26 season?
Nobody has a crystal ball, but left wingerArtemi Panarin has been the leading scorer each year he's been a Ranger, and it is a good chance that he will be the leading scorer again this season.
Seasons | Goals | Assists | Points |
---|---|---|---|
2019-20 | 32 | 63 | 95 |
2020-21 | 17 | 41 | 58 |
2021-22 | 22 | 74 | 96 |
2022-23 | 29 | 63 | 92 |
2023-24 | 49 | 71 | 120 |
2024-25 | 37 | 52 | 89 |
If he keeps on track with his success in his previous years, he should again be a top scorer. This upcoming season is the last year of his contract, so he should be motivated to perform. Not knowing what’s next for Panarin's career-wise, it adds a lot of pressure for him to finish strong. Panarin remains a popular jersey among the fans.
Let’s see if he can show us just how great a hockey player he is when the new season starts. Maybe this could be his best season yet, and when he looks out to the fans, all he sees are breads. Now that would be iconic, but only if he brings that Panarin magic.
Can't have a Top 20 Wings Right Now list without some bread! 🍞

J.T. Miller is another strong player. He only joined the Rangers mid-season, but still produced a significant number of goals and assists. He had 22 goals and 48 assists. With this momentum, he should be able to get even more goals playing a full season. Starting fresh with being a Ranger again, but starting the season in New York has to be exciting for him and even more exciting for the fans to watch him at the start. Miller could be in the position to be the new Team Captain if he continues to step up to the ice with the highest capability and helps keep the team afloat to gain points, which will later help them in the playoffs.

As the new season comes quickly, hopefully, all the Ranger players, especially the ones that were mentioned, are working and training hard. It is time for the Rangers to get the cup and be the team that their legacy knows they should be. All players must be on their A game to get goals, defend, and just work together as a team. What they lacked last season was strong teamwork. They have a new coach, new players, new set of people in the locker room; it should be a good recipe for success for all Blueshirt Fans.
