As you can see, this look is heavily inspired by the their original look from the 1926-27 season.
kinda seems like... but if so then they need to do the pants as well. im a sucker for good jersey designs and i dont mind the classic vintage one so i need them to get this right pic.twitter.com/WZ7kkdXK7n

The Rangers will wear this jersey 10 times this season, with the first being on opening night. They will also being wearing it for each theme night in conjunction with the centennial celebration. This includes October 20th for Birth of the Franchise, November 8th for Milestones and Moments, November 16th for Original Six era, December 13th for the New Garden, January 8th for Fan Favorites, January 26th for Legendary Blueshirts, February 25th for Goaltenders, March 5th for Modern Era, and April 8th for Fan Appreciation Night.
I think the Rangers did a really good job here. They took their original jersey and gave it a bit of a modern approach in terms of how they put it together. In many ways it feels similar to the jersey that they wore during their last Winter Classic appearance against the Buffalo Sabres at Citi Field.

There's not much else to say about this jersey, and I am sure it is going to generate a ton of different opinions. Fans are passionate about this stuff, but I am more interested in what type of additional merchandise they create based off this look. The 85th anniversary season led to a lot of cool "heritage" merch like tshirts and hoodies which still are pretty timeless.
It is going to be hard for fans to get used to a different shade of blue, but it was an intentional choice because of what they are celebrating.
