It's another game day for the New York Rangers. Tonight's opponent is the Dallas Stars, one of the few teams in the NHL that the Rangers lead the season series against. For that game in the Lone Star State, Igor Shesterkin stole the show as the Rangers ran away with the two points despite being outperformed. New York will not have Shesterkin to steal the game tonight, so the rebounding Rangers must beat them differently.

Louis Domingue got the nod against the Chicago Blackhawks for his first win of the year, but the Rangers are expected to give Jonathan Quick the start against the Stars tonight. A win for Quick tonight would give him 400 for his career, and the Rangers netminder would become the first American netminder to reach that milestone. If the Rangers can grab the two points tonight, the American netminder with the most wins in NHL history will reach another level.

Arthur Kaliyev will be available for the Blueshirts after the Rangers claimed him on waivers yesterday. Born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Kaliyev played for Team USA at the World Junior Championships, and he could make his debut against the Stars tonight. With a vicious shot, he'll be someone the Rangers hope can rejuvenate the lackluster powerplay. If the Rangers can get their special teams going, they can take the two points tonight.

Puck Drop

It's a 7 p.m. puck drop from Madison Square Garden as the Rangers look to continue a good start to 2025. New York needs the win to remain in the fight for the playoff places in the East. Despite the dismal six weeks the Rangers had to end in 2024, the Blueshirts are still in the fight. If the Rangers stem the bleeding, they can get to the postseason.
