Are you sick of hearing about J.T. Miller and the New York Rangers yet? We're continuing to wait on the eventual trade of the East Palestine, Ohio native. Still, the Rangers continue to discuss trade conditions regarding the former New York Ranger with the Vancouver Canucks. Miller has been in the rumor mill for so long that fans are growing tired of this story. We'll see where this leads, but we know more about the package turned down by the Rangers for Miller.
According to Thomas Drance, the Rangers offered Filip Chytil, Ryan Lindgren, and a conditional first for the services of the former New York Ranger. It's been a long time since he was here in the Big Apple, but that was the offer from Chris Drury to bring the player back. It's not got the value a lot of fans want for the Canucks, but a lot of fans don't understand the Canucks are selling from a position of weakness.
Those talks reportedly broke down regarding the conditions of the first-round pick. If they remove the condition of the pick, the Rangers might still be comfortable acquiring the Canucks 1C, but that would leave the team at risk of giving up a high pick if things went wrong between now and the conclusion of the year. New York hasn't had the best time, and another tailspin would send a high pick for Miller.
J.T. Miller's saga will drag on until either he is moved, Elias Pettersson is moved, or both. When he finds a new team, things will quiet down, but they will not disappear. If the Rangers do not land him, you can expect to see the Blueshirts linked with every available player ahead of the deadline as the Blueshirts seek reinforcements for the future. With the cap space, Chris Drury has, there will be deals getting made before March 7.
