New York Rangers rookie camp officially opens up on September 10, and the organization has just announced the full roster of players which includes 22 players. The group is a mix of some familiar names, top prospects, recent draft picks, and players who have been part of the system for a few years.

The Roster

One important thing to note is that prospects like Malcolm Spence, EJ Emery, and Drew Fortescue are already back at school for the semester, and otherwise would have been likely options to invite to camp.

Biggest names to watch

Gabe Perreault is the Rangers' top prospect, and this will be an opportunity for him to get into some additional games ahead of the team's regular training camp. He joined the team late in the season for a five game trial, and will be looking to prove he belongs to start in the NHL as opposed to the American Hockey League.

Scott Morrow is another interesting name for fans to look out for, and he joined the organization this summer as part of the trade that sent K'Andre Miller to the Carolina Hurricanes. He's another youngster who is expected to play a prominent role in main camp, and this will be a chance for him to highlight why he should be part of the team's top six on defense.

Brennan Othmann is a curious camp invite, considering his AHL and NHL experience, but he still is one of the more exciting names in the organization. He should easily establish himself as one of the most impactful players as part of this camp and series of games, and a failure to do so be shocking.

Lesser known players of interest

Dylan Roobroeck stands 6'7", weighs 205 pounds, and was drafted 178th overall in sixth round of the 2023 draft after posting a 15-38-53 season in 68 games with the Oshawa Generals of the OHL. Roobroeck made his debut in the AHL this past season with the Wolf Pack, and the hulking forward easily exceeded any and all expectations associated with him. In 72 games Roobroeck scored 20 goals and added 14 helpers for 34 points which placed him fourth on the team in scoring.

Noah Laba was selected in the fourth round of the 2022 draft, and spent the last two seasons playing for Colorado College in the NCAA. He spent just 100 games in college hockey, and in that time he scored 41 goals and added 44 assists for 85 points. Prior to that, Laba skated for the Lincoln Stars in the USHL, and he tallied a line of 24-34-58 in 96 games across two seasons.

Carey Terrance was acquired by the Rangers in the trade that sent Chris Kreider to the Anaheim Ducks, and he turned 20 years old in May. He's set to make his professional debut in the AHL this season after finishing his OHL career with the Erie Otters. Speed is a big part of his game, something the organization certainly needs, and he tallied 162 points in 230 OHL games (0.70 points per game).
