The New York Rangers begin a long Western Road trip when they visit the Seattle Kraken tonight. Seattle will be on the second half of a back-to-back after hosting the New York Islanders yesterday in a matinee. With the Rangers looking for two more points in the standings, they can exploit a tired Kraken roster with a good performance tonight. Last time they played here, Jonathan Quick sparkled in the darkness, so will we see that again?

Filip Chytil has not made the trip to the Pacific Northwest with the rest of the Blueshirts' roster as he continues to be managed with an injury. Jonny Brodzinski has been skating in his place between Kaapo Kakko and Will Cuylle. Without Chytil, the center depth on this roster suffers a bit, and the Rangers will have to try to readjust and recalibrate in his absence. Chytil may join the team later on the trip but is unavailable tonight.

Jonathan Quick is going to get the nod tonight against Seattle. Jimmy Vesey was seen vomiting at practice, so he's under the weather. A gutsy performance from the two-time Ranger could get the Rangers over the line in a game like this. You just never know the deciding factor when two teams clash in this league. Star talent and depth are requirements for winning in this league, so the Rangers need both.

Puck Drop

Tonight's game from the Pacific Northwest is a 9 p.m. puck drop from the Emerald City. The last time the Rangers visited Climate Pledge Arena, the lights went out in one zone, and Jonathan Quick stole the game from the darkness. He'll be asked to repeat his feat tonight, hopefully with a little more light involved. New York is looking to start the road trip on the right foot, and two points is as strong as starts get.
