Currently, the turmoil surrounding the New York Rangers is getting worse. Three wins in the last thirteen games is unacceptable, and the Blueshirts are now finding the names of core pieces being thrown around. K'Andre Miller and Kaapo Kakko are young players whose names have come up, and the longest-tenured Ranger was someone mentioned by name that general manager Chris Drury wants to move on from, and that is Chris Kreider. Kreider's time in New York looks set to come to an end.
Listed by name in the now-infamous memo that listed Jacob Trouba and Kreider as two players the Rangers wanted to move on from. Kreider has been seeing his ice time reduced and ended the game against the St. Louis Blues on the fourth line. As we roll toward the end of the season, there will be a time when Kreider will be discussed as a trade piece, and the Rangers will get the chance to move him.
He's currently listed as the number one name on The Athletc's trade board. As we get closer to the trade deadline, that'll only be more evident. Kreider will draw much interest from the Blueshirts due to his goal-scoring ability. He sits third in goals in the history of the New York Rangers and was someone the Blueshirts could have seen collect personal milestones with the New York Rangers had the circumstances been better.
For now, the Rangers have to find a partner if they will move on from the Foxborough, Massachusetts native. It's the time of the year when the names of underperforming teams start to swirl around the league, and destinations emerge for the largest of the names. Kreider is the biggest name to this point, so where could he end up? Where would he be willing to waive his trade protection to go that has the cap space and needs for someone like Chris Kreider?
That needs to be clarified. Because he is a native of Massachusetts, you can always see Boston as a possibility. Teams like Carolina could be interested due to his skating and size. He's extremely physical, which means any team expecting a deep playoff run will be inquiring about his availability. Teams will want Kreider, the Rangers will get a good return for him, it's a case of where does he want to go.
