The New York Rangers have concluded the 2025 NHL Draft with their seventh round and final pick. And it goes to Felix Färhammar.

After 48 hours full of anticipation and missing out on the first round, President and General Manager Chris Drury added eight new names and faces to the Rangers' franchise. After missing the 2025 postseason the year after winning the Presidents' Trophy, expectations for how Drury would perform in this year's draft were high. As a result, he took one left wing, five defenseman, one center and one right wing.

The first one of those he selected was projected first-rounder Malcolm Spence. The last he selected was defenseman Färhammar.

Who is Felix Färhammar?

Färhammar is known for playing at both ends of the ice and has high success rate on his edges due to possessing strong vision. This all means he has the potential to be a two-way player.

“Färhammar is an active two-way defenceman with puck-moving ability. He has a physical edge to his game and plays the body whenever possible, creating breakups along the wall through pins and preventing multiple scoring chances from the slot across our viewings," Elite Prospects wrote in their profile of him.

The lefty flashes a decent defensive stick, is able to lay the body and is solid positionally — which all point to him being an asset when it comes to preventing scoring chances off the rush.

Born in 2007, standing at 6'1" and weighing 185, Färhammar most recently tied for 26th in J20 national point-scoring among defensemen with 21 points (three goals, 18 assists) in 43 contests. He also appeared in two Swedish Hockey League (SHL) games.
