"I Wanted It To Be A More Super Star-Intended List, " Mike Bartner On The NHL TV Series Arriving Next Season
Instagram and YouTube content creator Mike Bartner joined PuckTalkCS this week, discussing the NHL Amazon documentary series that discussed the general manager's meetings last month.
Popular Instagram creator Mike Bartner (mbonhockey) joined the PuckTalkCS podcast this week to discuss his thoughts about the Amazon Prime television series focusing on a handful of NHL players set for release during the 2024-2025 NHL season.
"I wanted it to be a more uniform, superstar-intended list," Bartner said. His exponentially increasing social media imprint directly correlates to his conversation-provoking rankings.
"I was on TikTok starting in May 2021. I wanted to get more active on Instagram. I decided to make rankings. People love it and go crazy for it."
On March 18th, Bartner posted a top ten ranking of who NHL players he believed would be the most entertaining to watch in an exclusive documentary series.
Franchise players such as Artemi Panarin, Brady Tkachuk, and Cale Makar did not make the list over rookie Connor Bedard.
"If we were talking the [2023] season...If we got an inside look at his rookie year adjusting [to the NHL], the guy was in Regina Saskatchewan in the middle of nowhere," Bartner said.
"He's now in Chicago, the face of the franchise, and has all of these expectations. With that list, they aren't all the most exciting players but I wanted to pick superstars."
The cast for the series has yet to be released. More details will likely come this summer.
