New York Rangers add Jack Roslovic from Columbus Blue Jackets for mid-round pick
Trade three of deadline day comes in the eleventh hour as the Rangers agree to pick up forward Jack Roslovic from the Columbus Blue Jackets. As a player for pure production, this is one of the better moves that the Rangers have made at this deadline, as they pick up the former Winnipeg Jets forward. As a player that can slot both down the middle and on the right, this is one of the better deals to make.
Roslovic has put up 6 goals and 17 assists for 23 points in 40 games in the Buckeye State his season. He's been a good player for a Blue Jackets team that has fallen apart at the seams. We know that he's capable of playing the body, and while he doesn't have the defensive upside of a Vincent Trocheck, he's still one of the better options available with everyone flying off the board in the final hours of the deadline.
Roslovic could also slot onto the right wing next to Zibanejad and Kreider if they feel that Wennberg is a better fit in the third line center role. It will very much depend on what Peter Laviolette and the coaching staff on the Rangers feel in respect to the players that have been added at this deadline. We will have an overview of this at the conclusion of the trade window, but for now, it's just fun to think about.
It's a fourth round pick in 2026 going back to the Blue Jackets. It'll turn into a 3rd round pick if the Rangers make the Stanley Cup Final this year. That would be worth the pick, but this is depending on the remainder of the season and the playoff run. We will see what happens, but we're now awaiting the other trade situations in the league.
