New York Rangers look for historic 54th win of the year against the New York Islanders
A city rich with history, going back to the days of the colonies, is going to see two of its most successful organizations go toe-to-toe with the iconic Blueshirts of the New York Rangers look for win number 54 on the year when they take on the New York Islanders. When the Rangers head out to UBS Arena near Belmont Park, they will know they can pass the record for wins in a season set back in 2014-15 with two points tonight.
A player is also looking for an individual accolade in addition to the organization's team history. Artemi Panarin has his eyes set on the record for points in a season by a New York Ranger. While Jaromir Jagr holds this record, Panarin needs eight points from his final four games to match the great Czech winger. With the Breadman's recent success against opponents showing that he is still more than capable of achieving it, it's an uphill battle for the Russian, so he'll be looking for a big night.
With the record for wins up for breaking tonight, the Rangers need three more points from the final four games to set a new franchise high in standings totals. With the remainder of the opponents the Rangers face this season being teams that are not in that contenders bracket, you'd expect to see them collect enough points to break that record. Nothing is certain about this sport, but there is a chance the Rangers will make this the most successful season in history.

Puck Drop
As the Rangers look for a historic win against their rivals, they will do so from this 7 p.m. puck drop from UBS Arena on Long Island. If the Rangers are able to walk away with the win tonight, they will set a new record for wins in a season and close in on the organization's all-time points record. It's a big game with history on the cards, but the Islanders are desperate for the two points and to deny the Blueshirts the success they want.
