The New York Rangers have extended a Professional Tryout to two players. Adam Erne and Madison Bowey will attend the Rangers camp on these agreements as the Blueshirts look for a way to get the most out of their squad with possible depth additions. These aren't players who will make or break the Rangers season, but we all know the importance of organizational depth, and these two could be vital to have in Hartford if there are injuries come playoff time.

Adam Erne is a forward who has bounced around the league over his short NHL career. He started in Tampa Bay and then had spells with the Detroit Red Wings and the Edmonton Oilers before finding his way to the New York Rangers on a professional tryout this summer. The Rangers will be looking to get the most out of this player, either to fill a role in the bottom six or to be a depth option if there are injuries during the postseason.

Erne is 29 years old, and at 6'1, 212 lbs, he's one of the smaller options the Rangers could have gone for on a professional tryout. With a good camp, Erne could turn this into a two-way, league-minimum deal that sees him end up with the Hartford Wolf Pack for a while, but he's not likely to affect the main roster, regardless of whether or not this transitions into a contract. Erne's a journeyman trying to keep his NHL aspirations alive in New York.

Madison Bowey is a defenseman with a similar career trajectory to Adam Erne's. Drafted by the Washington Capitals back in 2013, Bowey has bounced around. He's played for the Capitals, Red Wings, Blackhawks, and Canucks in his career but spent the last three years over in the Kontinental Hockey League. He'll try to convert this into a deal to play in Hartford, hoping to get to the NHL if there are injuries.

Neither of these players is likely to make the roster on a PTO; they would need to have an unbelievable camp to displace one of the mainstays from last season. This likely means that if both get deals from the Rangers, they will report to the AHL for now. Working into the lineup of an Eastern Conference Finalist is never easy, but that is the task at hand for these two.
