With only one preseason game remaining, the New York Rangers are back in the win column.

Using their home site of Madison Square Garden to their advantage, the Rangers took care of business on Tuesday night. They defeated a relative New Jersey Devils JV squad 5-4 and improving their record to 4-1-0.

The Rangers last remaining preseason game is away at the New York Islanders.

With the regular season just days away — let's take a look at two takeaways from this latest win.

1. Points Across the Board

A whopping total of 11 different skaters tallied at least one point for the Rangers.

Brennan Othmann, the only Rangers player to appear in each of the five preseason games thus far, had his second two-point game of the preseason. The Canadian tallied a pair of primary assists.

Adam Edstrom continued his terrific preseason with his third goal, this one banging in his own rebound after driving to the net in the second period. He tied for the team-high with four shots on goal.

Also impressive on the ice was 22-year-old defenseman Victor Mancini who scored his second preseason goal with a snipe from the right wing position.

Finally, Brett Berard played his strongest preseason game to date. He picked up an assist, posting a plus-2 rating, being credited with three hits, four shots on goal and eight shot attempts

2. Fight Night Without Rempe

The Hudson River Rivalry ran quite heated this time.

There were three physical battles on the ice on Tuesday and not a single one involved known-enforcer Matt Rempe.

Veteran center Sam Carrick dropped the gloves in a first-period fight with Devils' Mike Hardman.

Also in the first period, Bo Groulx jumped in and fought Jackson Van De Leest after Cuylle absorbed a hard hit.

Last but not least was from defenseman Connor Mackey. He too dropped gloves in a third-period fight against Nathan Legare.

Despite not being involved in any of the fights, Rempe also made an impression on the ice — highlighting how this offseason and preseason he has been more focused on his basic skating and hockey skills.

However, that's not to say his aggression is totally gone — Rempe had a game-high seven hits.
