Things were no lot looking good for the New York Rangers on Thursday in Edmonton, but the team found a way to persevere and accomplish something that hadn't been done in over a year!
Rangers record first multi-goal, third-period comeback win since 2024
After trailing 3-1 in the third period and securing a win, the Blueshirts earned their first multi-goal, third-period comeback win since Feb. 18, 2024 (Stadium Series vs. NYI). #NYR

The Rangers got off on the right foot against the Oilers when they scored first to open the game, but things quickly spiraled out of control after the team surrendered three goals in a row. It was another form of adversity for the struggling Blueshirts, and it is safe to say that most fans watching had no confidence in the team rebounding.
Mike Sullivan's third period adjustments paid off
Head coach Mike Sullivan recognized that changes needed to be made, and he shuffled the lines in the third period.
Looks like Sullivan is stacking the forwards at the top:

Panarin - Miller - Zibanejad
Cuylle - Laba - Lafrenière
Sheary - Pärssinen - Raddysh#NYR
The changes led to goals being scored, and the second goal of the game was scored by Braden Schneider who did a great job taking advantage of a rebound on a chance created by Will Cuylle.

Raddysh continues to be a difference maker
The Rangers continued pressing after getting within a goal, and the newly minted line of Conor Sheary, Juuso Parssinen, and Taylor Raddysh got the job done.

Raddysh's tying goal was his fifth of the season, and he remains the Blueshirts' leading goal scorer after 12 games of action. The Rangers' determination was on full display in the final moments of the third period, as they were forced to kill off a high sticking penalty taken by Mika Zibanejad away from the play. The Oilers pressed, but Igor Shesterkin held tough and kept the Rangers in the game, Shesterkin stopped all nine shots he faced in the third, and three taken in overtime. On the evening he made 33 saves, and it was a much needed bounce back victory.
J.T. Miller stepped up when Blueshirts needed it most
Miller hasn't had the start to the season that he expected, and he was in a position to make a difference for the team in overtime. The newly created line with him, Zibanejad, and Artemi Panarin didn't quite click in the third period, as the trio passed up multiple opportunities to shoot. The Blueshirts' captain stepped onto the ice for a 3v3 shift after the penalty kill finished, and it didn't take him long to end the game.

Miller hasn't looked his normal self for most of the season, but this was a rare opportunity where he looked like the player who was effective for the Rangers for the second half of last season. The Blueshirts' captain turned on the jets and was able to best the Oilers while both Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were on the ice, and he beat Stuart Skinner to give the team its second win in a row.
