The New York Rangers are putting together a nice little run right now, and it is coming at one of the hardest stretches of games of the 2025-26 season. With a flurry of postseason-ready teams seemingly behind them, let's look back at why the Blueshirts performance against those high-powered teams shines a bright light on them.
Powering up against powerhouses
Since facing off against the St. Louis Blues on November 24, the Rangers have a record of 5-1-2, for 12 out of 16 possible points. Looking at the opponents that they had to face paints a bigger picture that this team had to endure a gauntlet to get that many points. More importantly, the Rangers are still within a tight playoff race in the Metropolitan Division.
The Rangers defeated Carolina and Boston, both really good playoff teams in their own right. Then, they beat Dallas in overtime and then take two of the best two teams in all of the NHL to overtime in 3-2 losses. After 30 games of play, it seems like this team is finally clicking on all cylinders.
Let us also not forget they are doing some of this without their superstar defenseman, Adam Fox.
This team and these fans should be fired up right now
The Rangers locker room should be buzzing right now. They are taking some of the best talent to the later stages of games and competing hard against them. Another thing to note is that the stigma that this team cannot get a win at home has been broken, with two of their last three games at Madison Square Garden being wins.
Artemi Panarin is firing on all cylinders, and the goaltending tandem of Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick is pushing the boundaries for this franchise. The Rangers are starting to look and feel like winners again.
Ahead of them will be more playoff-ready talent, but the sample size already gathered is large enough to say that this team is ready for anything.
