Jonathan Quick had an amazing Monday for the New York Rangers, and made some history in the process. Not only did Quick record an assist on Matthew Robertson's game-winning goal, but the future hall of fame netminder snapped a 12-game losing streak to pickup his 408th career victory. Quick's victory pushed him past Glenn Hall, and the Rangers' netminder now sits alone in 12th for most wins in NHL history.

Quick's long journey to this moment

Quick earned his 407th victory on November 7 with a 4-1 victory against the Detroit Red Wings, a game in which he made 32 saves. He faced the Red Wings again on November 16, and earned a loss in a 2-1 game in which he made 40 saves. He then lost his next 11 starts, which came more frequently with Igor Shesterkin sidelined, but Quick was able to get the job done on Monday against the Boston Bruins.

It was an important moment for Quick, and Mike Sullivan spoke about the Rangers' netminder after the game, and elaborated on what he means to the team. "He means a lot to this team. He's a great leader. He competes extremely hard. He's one of the more popular guys in our dressing room for good reason."

Quick joining the Rangers was a bit of a surprise a few seasons ago, and the fact that he's been embraced by the fanbase as much as he has is astounding. Some of it may have to do with the fact that Quick was born in Connecticut and grew up a Ranger fan, but it is a bit interesting that fans are able to feel the way they do despite Quick backstopping the Los Angeles Kings to a Stanley Cup against the Blueshirts back in 2014. That was over a decade ago, so it is possible time does heal all wounds.

How high can Quick climb?

Next up on the list is Tony Esposito, and he won 423 games in 886 games played. After him is Jacques Plante with 437 wins, and Terry Sawchuk in ninth place with 445 wins. This could very well be Quick's last season, and this may be as far as he goes up the list. To get to 11th place, he would need to win 16 more games.

Quick has four wins this season, he won 11 games last year, and 18 games during his first season on Broadway. Never say never, but it would be very hard for Quick to accomplish this. Had he had some better luck, he'd be able to make more of a dent this year, and then would be in a position to return next season to try and make a push for the top 10.
