Players to watch
J.T. Miller
Miller spent 94 games with the Lightning across two seasons and posted a line of 23-42-65. He returns to Tampa now as the captain of the Rangers, and he's in a bit of a rut. He's got a line of 3-5-8 in 17 games averaging 20:42 a night, but just a goal and three assists for four points in his last 10 games. Since scoring against the Edmonton Oilers on Halloween Eve, Miller got one assist, 14 shots on goal, and zero goals to his name. He's been battling a groin injury, and that could be holding him back, but the Rangers need him to step up sooner rather than later.
Vincent Trocheck
Trocheck made his triumphant return to the Rangers' lineup on Monday and was an instant contributor with a pair of assists. The Blueshirts' alternate captain started his career with the Florida Panthers, and he's quite familiar with the Lightning as an opponent. In 42 games against Tampa, Trocheck has 10 goals and 15 assists for 25 points, and it's his 10th best performance against a single team in his career to date.
Gabe Perreault
Tonight's game represents Perreault's second of the season, and seventh of his NHL career to date. He picked up his first point as a pro, and logged 14:08 in the win against Nashville. The Rangers' new look offense will get a chance to play against a Lightning team that will be less than full strength, and maybe tonight will be the night he gets his first NHL goal.
