The 2024-25 season was a disaster for the New York Rangers as an organization, but it was a personal triumph for Sam Carrick who was recognized by his teammates with the Players' Player award.
A team player + a terrific teammate.

Carrick, 33, joined the franchise as an unrestricted free agent after spending time with both the Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Ducks during the 2023-24 campaign.
At 79 games played, this is the most time Carrick has spent in the NHL during a single season, and the most he's spent with a single team overall. He also established a new career-high in assists at 14, and along with 6 goals he's got 20 points on the season which is also a new single-season best.
Carrick has averaged 11:54 a night for the Blueshirts, and has been primarily deployed in a fourth-line role, although he's been moved up on occasion when needed. One of those moments came back in January during overtime when Carrick unexpectedly found himself on the ice during 3-on-3 overtime.
The Rangers' center made the most of the opportunity, and scored the overtime winner after first stealing the puck from New Jersey Devils center Jack Hughes.

This was just one moment of pride for Carrick, and overall he's been heralded for his work ethic and overall support of his teammates. Carrick was drafted in the fifth round of the 2010 NHL Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Blueshirts are the fourth team he has played for. This honor is well-deserved for Carrick, and he is a great fit for the honor when you consider his unsung contributions this season.
During the same time this award was announced, Artemi Panarin was named the Rangers' season MVP as voted upon by the local chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers Association.
