Just when you thought he was out, the New York Rangers have pulled him back in! Today the team announced how they will be celebrating their centennial season, and the greatest part of the news is that the recently retired Sam Rosen will be serving as the Master of Ceremonies for the on-ice activities during select theme nights throughout the season.
Via the Rangers, here's what James Dolan had to say about the upcoming season:
"We are looking forward to the celebration of the Rangers Centennial season – one that will be truly unforgettable for our fans and honors the Rangers’ storied history. This is a special opportunity to recognize the great moments, players, and so much more that has brought us all together for a century of Rangers hockey."
Here's a quick list of the various theme nights the team will be hosting.
Theme | Date | Celebration |
---|---|---|
1926-42 – Birth of the Franchise | October 20, 2025 | Honoring the team’s early success and established reputation for being the “Classiest Team in Hockey” during a celebrated time in NY history. |

As part of the season-long celebration, Madison Square Garden will be adding a new exhibit in the main concourse which will showcase artifacts and memorabilia that highlights the overall history of the Rangers' franchise.
The biggest news fans are waiting for concerns the jerseys. It had previously been reported by Icethetics that the Rangers will be getting a centennial jersey, and it will be one of five different jerseys they wear this season.
This includes the Rangers' current home and away jerseys, their navy blue third jersey, and a Winter Classic jersey to be worn in January.
Of the theme nights that have been announced, the ones that sound most interesting are "Fan Favorites", "1991 to 2004 Legendary Blueshirts", and "Goaltenders." The Rangers' franchise has been blessed with goaltending, and I'd imagine names like Mike Richter and Henrik Lundqvist will be involved. It would be nice to see John Davidson return again, and it was special for him to return in the booth with Sam Rosen last season.
In any case, this upcoming season is expected to be a memorable one, and here's to hoping the Rangers' play on the ice only adds to the excitement. After a disapointing 2024-25 season there's nowhere to go but up, and things will be getting underway sooner than you think.
